Arizona Cardinals, a team that has been stuck in the realm of mediocrity for the past decade, will be entering 3rd season with Jonathan Gannon as the head coach. While the team improved by 4 wins in Gannon’s second year in the desert, anything less than a playoff berth in the 2025 season will be considered a disappointment for the franchise, which has seen them make it into the postseason only once in the Kyler Murray era. In a division where Super Bowl contenders like the LA Rams and San Francisco 49ers reside, the Cards would be banking on their young talent to take the next step for them to play meaningful games in late December and early January.
What is the Arizona Cardinals' depth chart for 2025-26?
After finishing outside the top 20 in total defense in the 2024 season (via FOX Sports), Jonathan Gannon led the Cardinals to go all-in on defense in the 2025 offseason. After finishing 14th in the league in team sacks in 2024 (via FOX Sports), they made a big splash in March by signing one of the biggest free agents available in the market in defensive end Josh Sweat, to a 4-year contract (via Spotrac). Gannon’s team also beefed up the middle by bringing in veterans like Calais Campbell and Dalvin Tomlinson.
Going heavy in FA did not stop Arizona’s GM Monti Ossenfort from doubling down on defense during the draft, as he picked only 1 offensive player out of the 7 total picks he made during seven rounds. After selecting defensive tackle Walter Nolen on day 1, the Cardinals grabbed the opportunity of the fall of Michigan cornerback Will Johnson due to uncertainty around his medicals (knee issues) by taking him in the second round.
