Grounded 2 Picnic Table Briefcase code: How to open the lock

Grounded 2 features a massive, open, explorable world that has some interesting use of day-to-day objects. One of them is a Briefcase at the Picnic Table region that contains a lot of free loot. However, to get it, you will require two codes: one for each of the two internal locks located on the left and right sides of the case.

Unlike some randomized puzzles, the Briefcase code is fixed, meaning it uses the same combination for every user. This article will guide you through the locations where you can find the code and will also reveal the exact combination for those who want to skip the hunt.

During your adventure, once you reach the Picnic Table area, you'll spot the locked Briefcase. Before jumping straight to the code, let's explore how and where you can locate it in-game, if you enjoy solving it yourself.

If you prefer to skip the exploration and just want to open the Briefcase, feel free to jump to the final section of this article, where the exact code is revealed.

To begin, climb up the Picnic Table until you reach the Briefcase. You'll notice that it has two internal locks, one on the left and one on the right. Each lock requires a three-digit code. Once both sides are correctly entered, the Briefcase will unlock.

Each of the two three-digit codes required to unlock the Briefcase in Grounded 2 is hidden in a different location. Here's how to find both.

Left lock code location

The code for the left-side lock can be found right on the same Picnic Table where the Briefcase is located. Just beside the Briefcase, you'll see a cooler. Enter it and don’t worry about the cold; as long as your health bar is full, you’ll survive.

Once inside, climb up from within the cooler to reach the top. As you exit the cooler and stand on the table, look to your right. There, you’ll spot a newspaper. Approach it and check out the crossword puzzle. Just below the puzzle, you'll find a handwritten number; this is the code for the left lock.

Now, for the right-side code, you’ll need to locate the missing piece of the same newspaper. Just beside the handwritten left-side code, you’ll notice that the corner of the page has been torn off.

To find this missing piece, open your map and head to the Ceremony area. In its upper section, you’ll find a podium stand. Zoom in and you'll notice the torn part of the newspaper lying there. This piece contains the code for the right-side lock.

Climbing the podium can be tricky. As mentioned earlier, the area contains many spiders, including a Wolf Spider. If possible, use a Spider Mount to climb directly onto the first floor of the podium, or go at night. Bring a few Dandelion tufts, as the climb requires traversing the ledge of the podium. There are a few sections with a risk of falling.

Alternatively, leave most of the loot inside storage boxes at your base. On top of the podium, there are two O.R.C.-influenced Blue Butterflies that will attack you. Bring ranged weapons and a shield.

Exact Briefcase code for picnic table in Grounded 2 (If you want to skip the search)

If you want to skip the search and unlock the Briefcase immediately, here’s the code:

Left Side: 137
Right Side: 514

To unlock each side, interact with the lock and rotate the dial to match the numbers. After aligning the correct combination, press the latch. If entered correctly, the numbers will reset to 000, indicating the code is correct. Repeat the process for the other side, and the Briefcase will open.
