Samjhana Khadka is a young player and we wanted to give her an opportunity to showcase her talent. I am very happy with my team's efforts, they kept believing and pushing for this result.

Esha Rohit (UAE captain): We have to start with our batting - we did not have a par score. This was a pretty decent wicket to bat on, but we just did not carry on. This puts a lot of pressure on the middle order as we did not convert their starts. We bowled well, but not in partnerships. This dragged the game away from us, I feel. Nepal played a good game today, and deserved to win.

Samjhana Khadka (Player of the Match): I opened the innings for the first time today, but I am extremely happy with the way it was going. I am proud of this knock.

Nepal scripted history today by beating the United Arab Emirates in the opening encounter of the ongoing ICC Women's Asia Cup 2024. Samjhana Khadka was the star with the bat in hand for the Nepalese as they chased down the 116 runs needed for them to beat their opponents.

UAE will be extremely disappointed with this result, and hope that they are able to come back strongly from this defeat in their next game of the tournament.

Skipper Esha Rohit, upon whom so much of UAE's hopes rested, failed to perform with the bat in hand and did not have much of a say with the ball either.
