WWE News: Roman Reigns responds to Cody Rhodes being "biggest draw in the industry"

What’s the story?

Cody Rhodes recently called himself the biggest draw in professional wrestling which prompted a response from Roman Reigns who said that Rhodes was “talking silly.”

In case you didn’t know...

Rhodes left the WWE back in 2016 and has spent the past two years wrestling on the independent scene for PWG, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor and other non-WWE entities.

Rhodes won the ROH World Championship back in June at the Best in the World pay-per-view and successfully defended it against KUSHIDA at Saturday’s ROH Global Wars show.

The heart of the matter

After defeating KUSHIDA Saturday, Rhodes said that he was the biggest draw in the industry and that his presence defines ROH as opposed to ROH defining him.

“It’s no longer the company that defines the man, it’s the man that defines the company, and that company is Ring of Honor and the company that I keep is the Bullet Club. So, come at me and I will be smiling, because I’m the biggest damn draw in this entire industry.”

Twitter User Mrs. Reigns sent the article Ringside News ran on Rhodes' comments to Reigns and the Big Dog responded saying that Rhodes could only be considered the biggest draw if his event drew over 100,000 fans.

The" over 100,000 fans" comment is more than likely a reference to WrestleMania 32’s attendance which WWE claimed was 101,763 and featured Reigns facing Triple H for the WWE Championship in the main event.

The attendance announced by WWE was disputed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and was later clarified during a WWE conference call when Vince McMahon said the attendance record wasn’t exclusively paid tickets.

Rhodes responded at the ROH Global Wars show Sunday and never mentioned Reigns by name, but said that he thought the man who wears a tactical vest did it to hide failed drug test, but it was actually to hide envy.

What’s next?

This marks the second time that Reigns has taken issue with a member of Bullet Club after he said that wrestling needs more original characters and not wrestlers “acting like they are D-X.”

Both sides have said taken their shots at each other now and this could continue if Reigns responds to Rhodes' comments later on.

The friction between Reigns and the Bullet Club is showing no signs of easing up and could be something to keep an eye out for on social media.
