WrestleMania, the Grandest Stage of Them All, is upon us once again. This year, the 40th iteration of the spectacle takes place over two nights, April 6th and 7th, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. WWE fans are in for a historic event, with a double prize in the main event. WrestleMania XL boasts not one, but two main event clashes worthy of the biggest stage in professional wrestling.

After WrestleMania 35, the event has been split into two nights and the last match of both nights is considered to be the main event of WrestleMania. The road to WrestleMania XL has been nothing short of electrifying. Superstars have battled for dominance, alliances have been forged and shattered, and rivalries have reached a boiling point. With the biggest stage in professional wrestling approaching, the stakes have never been higher.

Main Event of WrestleMania XL

WrestleMania XL - Rhodes to WrestleMania

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE wanting to win the WWE Championship, a title his father never held. Roman Reigns was the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. After failing to win the title from Reigns at WrestleMania 39, Rhodes won the Royal Rumble again in 2024.

With the introduction of a new World Heavyweight Championship, Rhodes could choose which champion to challenge at WrestleMania. He initially wanted to challenge Reigns again but after consulting with someone who knows Reigns well (revealed to be The Rock), Rhodes decided to challenge someone else.

Things got even crazier after the Rock challenged Reigns. Fans were furious that Cody Rhodes, the Royal Rumble winner, seemed to be left out. The hashtag #WeWantCody exploded on social media. Hearing the fans' roar, Rhodes reversed his decision and challenged Reigns after all.

This threw another wrench in the plans, and to everyone's surprise, The Rock sided with Reigns! He even turned against the fans and became a heel. Now, The Rock vowed to help Reigns crush Rhodes' dream of winning the championship, adding a whole new layer of betrayal and complexity to the WrestleMania main event.

The drama continued! Frustrated by The Rock's interference, Cody Rhodes challenged him to a one-on-one match. But The Rock had a different plan. He proposed a tag team showdown at WrestleMania! Here's the twist: if Rhodes and his new partner Seth Rollins won, The Rock and Reigns (The Bloodline) couldn't interfere in Rhodes' championship match against Reigns.

But if The Rock and Reigns won, the championship match would be a brutal "anything goes" fight under The Bloodline's rules. Rhodes and Rollins saw the gamble and took the challenge, setting the stage for a huge tag team match at WrestleMania.

WrestleMania XL Night One Main Event

The main event for Night One of WrestleMania XL is the tag team match between Roman Reigns and The Rock and Cody Rhodes and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. If The Bloodline wins, the main event for WrestleMania XL will be “Anything Goes”. However, if Rhodes and Rollins win, no member of The Bloodline can appear in the next night’s main event.

WrestleMania XL Night Two Main Event

In the main event of WrestleMania XL Night Two, Cody Rhodes will go one-on-one against Roman Reigns for his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Rhodes will attempt to finish the story he failed to at WrestleMania 39. The match will either be an “Anything Goes” match or the members of Bloodline will be barred from the ringside, depending on the result of WrestleMania XL Night One main event.
