The injury happened when the Sun's Bria Hartley fell into Cunningham's knee. She was assisted by her teammates off the court. According to Yahoo Sports, the Fever guard was declared out for the rest of the game.

Cunningham is the fourth Indiana player out with an injury. Caitlin Clark has missed 12 straight games due to a groin injury, while Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald are out for the season.

The Fever are in a dire spot without their star guard. They are the seventh team on the standings with a 18-16 record. However, if the season were to end today, Indiana would clinch a playoff spot.

With still a quarter of the season remaning, the playoff race is intensifying with each passing week. The Fever need Clark to return and deliver as soon as she can. Without her, there is a possibility that they'll miss out on the postseason.

Fever coach Stephanie White gives vague injury update on Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark's injury has been dragging out for some time and there is still no concrete timetable on her return. However, before the Fever's clash with the Sun on Sunday, Stephanie White was asked if Clark will return by the end of the regular season.

"That's the hope," White said. "The hope is that she's back."

Natasha Howard also hinted vaguely on Clark's return on Aug. 9. She sent a heartfelt message for the star guard and the rest of her injured teammates on X.

"We will always (be) fighting for each other but we feel this fight is a little different with our girls out the lineup. All the hard work they’ve put in over this season won’t go unnoticed. Win are lose just know we are fighting to the end for Syd,CC & Ari. See you soon CC," Howard tweeted.

The team's fans can only hope that Clark returns soon and helps Indiana secure a playoff spot.
