Being a superstar like Caitlin Clark means every move is under a microscope, and that includes body language. Recently, social media buzzed over a reaction from a cousin of one of Clark’s teammates, who commented on a moment some fans criticized as showing poor demeanor from Clark during a game.

The moment happened during the Fever’s 102-88 win over the reigning champion New York Liberty, handing them their first loss of the season on Clark’s return. On one particular possession, Clark launched a 3-pointer and missed, Aliyah Boston secured the offensive rebound and Natasha Howard finished inside.

While Howard battled under the basket, Caitlin Clark appeared frustrated about not receiving the ball back, raising her hands in apparent irritation and slumping her shoulders as she jogged back on defense.

Chelsey Paige, Howard’s cousin, reacted to the clip with a simple “oh” on X. When a fan questioned the play, she followed up:

“Nah. To think we gone pass a ball back out after we done worked for a rebound from your shot that you just watched, is insane. It was contested, but she also wasn’t sitting out there wide open to think she was gonna pull up an uncontested 3.”

After facing backlash, Paige clarified her intent:

“I RTd the highlight and said ‘oh’ simply reacting to the post. I never said anything beyond that, but instantly got trolled, so I responded w/ the same energy. Tasha never said anything abt the game. I trolled back because y’all took that post and ran wild with your assumptions.”

Paige has been a frequent commenter on Fever games since Howard joined the team, and during their recent victory, she also retweeted a post calling Sydney Colson the Fever’s “most important player” outside of Clark in the win over New York.

Howard, however, had a rough outing. She converted just one of her two shot attempts — off Boston’s offensive rebound — and finished with four points, four turnovers and a Fever-worst minus-15 rating in 14 minutes and 26 seconds.

For New York, Sabrina Ionescu poured in 34 points while Breanna Stewart chipped in 24.
