Sophie Cunningham continues to poke fun at Washington Mystics guard Jacy Sheldon. A week ago, a fan asked the Indiana Fever star to sign a Sheldon basketball card. Cunningham obliged by writing “property of” on the cover before adding her signature.

On Tuesday, a fan posted a clip of Cunningham and Sheldon's scuffle from mid-June to hit back at Sophie's sister, Lindsey, who urged the WNBA to do a better job of protecting its players.

Sophie responded to the video on X (formerly Twitter):

“… some of us were raised by the words of ‘don’t bite off more than you can chew,’ and some of us didn’t. ‘Fafo.’”

When the Indiana Fever hosted the Connecticut Sun on June 17, Jacy Sheldon, then with the Sun, poked Fever superstar Caitlin Clark in the eye. Late in the fourth quarter, Sophie Cunningham took revenge by grabbing Sheldon by the shoulders and pushing her to the floor.

Sheldon quickly stood up to go after Cunningham, who fended off her opponent. Players and coaching staffs from both teams arrived in time to prevent the incident from escalating. Cunningham, Sheldon and Sun guard Lindsay Allen were all thrown out of the game.

Cunningham suffered a knee injury on Sunday after Connecticut guard Bria Hartley fell on her. The former Phoenix Mercury star limped to the locker room and did not return.

Cunningham's injury is the latest in a long list of issues that have hampered the Fever all season long. Point guards Aari McDonald (foot) and Sydney Colson (ACL) have been ruled out of the season. Fever coach Stephanie White is hopeful Caitlin Clark can return, but the team has no fixed timetable.

The Fever have not issued a statement on Sophie Cunningham’s status.
