WNBA legend Candace Parker has laid out her reasons for not buying the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese comparison to Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. The rivalry between Johnson’s Lakers and Bird’s Celtics is perhaps one of the most legendary rivalries seen in basketball.

Clark and Reese have been pitted against each other since their time in college. Their rivalry is alive and well during their sophomore season in the WNBA. However, Parker finds the comparisons between the two sets of players unfair.

The main reason is that Clark and Reese play different positions. Parker believes that this makes them ineligible to be compared to Bird and Johnson. She explained her reasoning while speaking to Jemelle Hill on Saturday (Timestamp: 26:30):

"Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. It's like, what are we doing? ... Well, (Bird and Magic) played similar positions. Like, Bird wasn't a point guard, but he played the guard position. Like, they at least kind of match up. This? Like, what are we doing? So, I'm not falling into that. I'm not into the comparison.”

While Candace Parker might not be too hot about the idea of comparing Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, their rivalry is unlikely to die. The WNBA generates a lot of money and buzz by pitting those two against each other and will likely continue doing so.

Moreover, Clark and Reese's behavior on the court has also contributed to this treatment. Their altercation during the season opener between Chicago and Indiana is a good example.

Angel Reese struggles against Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever

The Chicago Sky lost their second game aagainst the visiting Indiana Fever 79-52 in the United Center on Saturday. The Fever dominated as Caitlin Clark watched from the sidelines. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge for Indiana with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese had a rough night, recording four points on 2-for-7 shooting. However, she did have an impact on the glass, grabbing 12 rebounds. Reese is averaging 9.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game this season. Her efficiency is even worse than her rookie year, as she is shooting just 30.9%.
