Wednesday season 2 continues to generate attention among fans. At a promotional event in Australia on August 14, 2025, fans were stunned when Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Emma Myers (Enid) were joined on stage by none other than Principal Weems herself, played by English actress Gwendoline Christie.

Christie, celebrated for her remarkable roles across diverse genres, is set to reprise Principal Weems, this time as Wednesday’s new spirit guide. In season 1, Weems met a tragic end after being poisoned by Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci). However, as revealed in the teaser trailer released the same day as the promotional event, the beloved character will once again grace the screens in season 2.

"I felt like I was returning to a group of friends who are all at the top of their game. It is such a pleasure for me to be a part of this emotional world, this imaginative world, and play the character of Larissa Weems, who I truly adore and really thought a lot about bringing into being," Christie tells Tudum.

In Wednesday season 1, Wednesday found guidance from her ancestor, Goody Addams, who helped her uncover the dark secrets of Jericho. However, after Goody's departure, Wednesday has spent months without a spirit guide, often overusing her powers recklessly and putting herself and others in danger.

The second part of the new season introduces a surprising twist. Larissa Weems, the late headmistress of Nevermore, returns in spectral form to take on the role of Wednesday's spiritual mentor. Unlike Goody, whose guidance was rooted in family lineage and uncovering the past, Weems offers a more practical and disciplined approach.

Her presence focuses on helping Wednesday refine her powers, preventing them from spiraling out of control. The stakes are higher than ever, as careless use of her abilities can endanger not only her own safety but also that of her best friend, Enid.

Highlighting about new aspects of her role further, Christie told Tudum,

What happened in Wednesday season 2 part 1?

Wednesday season 2 part 1 ends with a major twist. The mastermind behind the avian attacks that occurred throughout the four episodes is revealed to be Judi, the seemingly harmless secretary at Willow Hill. She was the one controlling the ravens and the one responsible for Sheriff Galpin's death.

Judi's story ties into the LOIS (Longterm Outcast Integration Study) program. This secret experiment was created by her father, Augustus Stonehurst, a former Nevermore teacher. He was a "normie" but wanted to weaponize outcast powers.

Judi was subjected to her father's experiments and gained the powers of an Avian as a result, despite being a "normie" herself. She continued his work by faking the deaths of Willow Hill patients and hiding them in the facility's underground lab to carry on the experiments.

The season also pushes forward Tyler Galpin's arc. At first, he is imprisoned at Willow Hill, but Uncle Fester disrupts the asylum and sets him free. As Thornhill tries to manipulate him again to do her bidding, Tyler kills her in his Hyde form. But the act destabilizes him, as without a master, a Hyde loses control. His violent clash with Wednesday ends with her being thrown from a window and left gravely injured.

The corruption at the center of the season links back to Nevermore Academy. Augustus once worked there and secretly set the stage for Judi's transformation.

Even the rest of the Addams family is drawn into the tension. Morticia fears her daughter may follow the same tragic path as her sister, Ophelia, who also battled uncontrollable psychic powers and had the symptoms Wednesday is currently experiencing. Meanwhile, Pugsley is also attending Nevermore, where he has resuscitated a zombie.

Wednesday season 2 part 2 will release on September 3, 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
