There were hopes that Jameis Winston could take up the mantle after Drew Brees retired. Instead, injuries forced the quarterback to the sidelines and it appears that Andy Dalton has kept him confined there. While Dalton continues to start, the quarterback continues to wait for his chance.According to Ed Daniels on Twitter, while speaking to reporters, Winston expressed a level of frustration about his circumstances. In a short clip, he took a dig at the coaching staff for doing what he is hinting at to be hypocritical:"It hurts my soul...I lost my job due to injury, and the policy has always been you don't lose your job because of injury..."Ed Daniels@WGNOsports"It hurts my soul...I lost my job due to injury, and the policy has always been you don't lose your job because of injury..." - #Saints QB Jameis WinstonWatch full interview in link below... twitter.com/WGNOtv/status/…WGNO-TV (ABC) New Orleans@WGNOtvWATCH: Jameis Winston opens up about losing starting job trib.al/Bu4i7NN3056523WATCH: Jameis Winston opens up about losing starting job trib.al/Bu4i7NN https://t.co/A1rmExmhUi"It hurts my soul...I lost my job due to injury, and the policy has always been you don't lose your job because of injury..." - #Saints QB Jameis WinstonWatch full interview in link below... twitter.com/WGNOtv/status/… https://t.co/rhDAk6VGJbA former Heisman Trophy winner, Winston was the first overall pick in the 2015 Draft, being taken up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, most agree that the team will be looking to draft a first-round quarterback in 2023 almost no matter what happens. At this point, fans surmise the two quarterbacks are tacitly fighting for bridge quarterback duties for 2023.The team is 3-7 through 10 games and is pretty much in a countdown until elimination if something doesn't change quickly. The Saints will hope to take advantage of a Cooper Kupp-less Los Angeles Rams squad on Sunday when the game kicks off at 1:00 PM EST.
