While the Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the team that comes out on top in the Super Bowl, the player who stands out the most in the big game is rewarded with Super Bowl MVP. There are two MVP awards given to a player each season: NFL MVP to the player considered to be the most valuable during the regular season and the Super Bowl MVP to an athlete deemed to be the most beneficial during the Super Bowl game. The winner is chosen by a panel of 16 football writers and broadcasters, and fans have also started chipping in by voting electronically since Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.
