5 Talking Points from IMPACT Wrestling (10th February 2022): New member added to team IMPACT!, Deonna Purrazzo's Open challenge, Moose destroys Morrissey

As we draw closer to No Surrender, IMPACT Wrestling continued to build towards the pay-per-view. Ahead of the all-important high stakes clash between Team IMPACT! and Team Honor No More, we saw a major change made to the former.

The IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James battled Chelsea Green in singles competition while the AAA Reina de Reinas and ROH World Champion Deonna Purrazzo held an open challenge for either of her titles.

Ever since their split, IMPACT World Champion Moose and W.Morrissey have been at each other's throats. Their feud continued to intensify this week following Morrissey's No Disqualification match against Brian Myers. A strengthened Bullet Club was involved in a war of words against The Good Brothers. So without further ado, let's check out the five talking points from this week's IMPACT Wrestling.

#5 Moose destroyed Morrissey on IMPACT Wrestling

During their title match at Hard To Kill, Morrissey almost had Moose beaten but the referee was knocked out. Later on, the champion retained his title by pinning Matt Cardona.

Morrissey used it as a pretext for another title match on the next episode of IMPACT. However, Moose rejected the challenge and instead defended it against Zicky Dice of The Learning Tree. Morrissey lodged an attack but Moose escaped and The Learning Tree suffered his wrath, beginning a feud between them and Morrissey.

Morrissey defeated The Learning Tree in a 7-on-1 match but following that he was attacked by Moose with the help of Brian Myers thus setting up this week's main event.

Despite multiple interferences from The Learning Tree during the no-disqualification bout, Morrissey managed to get the win over Myers by hitting the BQE twice on a pile of thumbtacks.

Following the match, Moose blindsided Morrissey and lodged a vicious assault by wrapping a steel chair around his neck followed by multiple chair shots. The champion stood across the lifeless body of his challenger on the outside, posing with his title.

#4 Chelsea Green defeated Mickie James on IMPACT Wrestling

Ahead of her title defense against Tasha Steelz, Mickie James battled Chelsea Green in singles competition where the latter gained the upper hand. Green countered James' DDT and delivered the Cutter which prompted Steelz to leave commentary and throw a trash bin at Green.

Savannah Evans attacked Green thus awarding her a Disqualification win. James made the save, setting up a tag team match between the four of them on the go-home edition of IMPACT Wrestling ahead of No Surrender.

#3 Bullet Club's war of words with The Good Brothers and Violent By Design on IMPACT Wrestling

Jay White tried to plot the seeds of dissenssion between Violent By Design and The Good Brothers by questioning the integrity of their alliance, prompting an interruption from VBD. Eric Young stated that the Bullet Club was hanging onto something popular from 10 years ago and issued a six-man tag team match for the go-home edition.

The Good Brothers joined the fray and tried to take credit for the Bullet Club's popularity and stated that they have been everywhere. Tama Tonga fired back saying it was because they were fired from everywhere and once G.O.D become the new IMPACT World Tag Team Champions at No Surrender, they’ll fire The Good Brothers from the Bullet Club for good!

#2 Deonna Purrazzo's Open Challenge on IMPACT Wrestling

Deonna Purrazzo issued an open challenge on IMPACT Wrestling for either the AAA Reina de Reinas or the ROH Women's World Championship. Santana Garett answered her challenge and chose to challenge for the ROH Women's World Championship. The two had a back-and-forth contest, towards the end of which Garett fought off the Fujiwara Armbar but Purrazzo transitioned into a pin to retain her title.

#1 Josh Alexander replaced by Steve Maclin on IMPACT Wrestling

Josh Alexander opened the show expressing his frustrations at an unhinged Morrissey receiving a world title shot ahead of him. Big Kon (fka Konnor of The Ascension) interrupted and the two had a match where Alexander made Kon tap out to the Ankle Lock.

Alexander refused to let go of Kon's ankle despite the match being over which prompted security to head to the ring. Alexander attacked all of them following which Scott D'Amore made his way to the ring only to be shoved by Alexander accidentally.

The two had a back-and-forth verbal disagreement with Alexander, threatening to leave IMPACT Wrestling if he didn't get his title shot. D'Amore removed him from Team IMPACT at No Surrender and sent him home.

Backstage, Steve Maclin asked D'Amore to place him in Alexander's spot on Team IMPACT to avenge Honor No More's attack on him the previous week. D'Amore later conferred with Team IMPACT and they asked ROH World Champion Jon Gresham to be on their side.

Later in the night, it was revealed that Gresham had been attacked backstage. Following a tag team match between the teams of Mike Benett & Matt Taven and Rich Swann & Rhino, Maclin saved Cary Silkin from an attack from Benett & Taven.

Upon Ian Riccaboni's recommendation, Edwards, Swann, Sabin & Rhino reluctantly agreed to Maclin's addition to the team.
