Rory McIlroy's Caddie

Rory McIlroy, the Irish golfer, has won 43 tournaments and numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including 28 PGA Tour wins, 18 European Tour wins, and the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The former world No. 1 for 122 weeks is ranked No. 2 as of March 2025 by the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). McIlroy, a four-time major champion, has only the Masters Tournament left to win to complete his career grand slam; his best Masters finish was in 2022, where he finished runner-up against Scottie Scheffler by three strokes.

As a professional and amateur, McIlroy has represented Ireland, Great Britain, Ireland, and Europe. He represented Europe in the Ryder Cup, which Europe won five times, playing against the United States in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Furthermore, he received the award for RTÉ Sports Person of the Year twice, in 2011 and 2014, for his individual and team performances.

Harry Diamond is Rory McIlroy's caddie as of March 2025, according to Caddie Network. He has been McIlroy’s caddie since 2017 and most recently, McIlroy won the Players Championship 2025 in the playoffs, defeating J.J. Spaun with Diamond at his side. Diamond is known to lead a private life, as per Golf Monthly.

According to Golf Monthly, McIlroy called Diamond "one of the best caddies out here, if not the best," following his victory at The Players in 2019. Raised in Holywood, County Down, Rory McIlroy and Harry Diamond have been friends since they were juniors when they played at the Holywood Golf Club. However, they officially teamed up as player and caddie in 2017. At that point, McIlroy and JP Fitzgerald had split up after eight years of association. Diamond was also the best man at Rory's wedding with Erica Stoll in 2017.

Besides being long-time friends, Diamond's background as a golfer was another factor in the hiring decision. He won the 2012 West of Ireland Championship and at one point had a handicap of +2.5, as per Caddie Network. The Golf Channel reported that McIlroy acknowledged that he relied on Diamond's experience at the Royal Portrush (the Open Championship) to help him prepare.

McIlroy told Golf Monthly about his bond with Diamond, saying:

"I was an only child and Harry was a big brother. We’re very close. I love having him on the bag. I’m a different person. And I’m never going to give him sh** even if something goes wrong. It would not be worth it.”

As per Caddie Network, McIlroy recognizes Diamond to advise and distract whenever necessary to keep him calm, and he also believes that "Diamond knows his swing as much as he does," which is another advantage on the greens. However, the two have yet to win a major together, as McIlroy has been stuck on four major championships since 2014.
