The 2024 Omega European Masters came to a close on Sunday, September 8 at the Crans-sur-Sierre GC in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The competition for the title was fierce and a playoff was needed to determine the champion.Matt Wallace won the Omega European Masters after defeating Spain's Alfredo Garcia-Heredia in a playoff. It was enough to keep him on top, but not enough to prevent Alfredo Garcia-Heredia from forcing a playoff.The Spaniard was 4-under for the fourth round. He arrived at the 18th hole one shot behind Wallace, but hit a spectacular 115-yard approach that left the ball just five feet from the hole. He made the putt to force a playoff.However, Wallace only needed one hole in the sudden death to win the Omega European Masters. It came on the 18th hole, where the Englishman birdied and the Spaniard could only manage a par.This is Matt Wallace's fifth win on the DP World Tour and his first in six years. Wallace now has a total of 12 professional wins, including the 2023 Corales Puntcana Championship on the PGA Tour.
