Alexandre Lacazette finally makes it into Didier Deschamps' France squad after Anthony Martial was ruled out due to injury. The Manchester United forward scored a penalty in the Manchester derby over the weekend, and even though he played the full 90 minutes, the French Football Federation confirmed that the 22 year old suffered an abductor injury. Both Martial and Lacazette have been in superb form for their clubs this season. The former became the fifth French player to score in 5 consecutive Premier League matches, something only Thierry Henry, Olivier Giroud, Eric Cantona, and Nicolas Anelka have managed to do. Meanwhile, for the Arsenal forward, he seems to be regaining some of his old stellar form under the new Gunners manager. The striker failed to make Deschamps' World Cup winning squad, and it will certainly remain a life long regret. The 27 year old has now scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 15 appearances for his club across all competitions.Previously, when Lacazette was not included in the squad, Arsenal fans lamented the decision and criticised Deschamps. Now the Frenchman has been called up, it has become a worry for Arsenal fans. With Danny Welbeck's long-term injury, it means the North London club is now short of experienced attackers. The frenzy of matches is already starting to have an impact on The Gunners' recent performances, and the team could suffer even more in December. Emery will certainly pray that none of his players, especially Lacazette, gets injured while on international duty.Sokratis' injury in the previous international break gave Rob Holding the chance to step up and earn his place in the starting line-up. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the young English centre-back, but the same cannot be said upfront. Eddie Nketiah is the only other backup to both Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. If either of the duo were to be injured, Emery will definitely have to look into buying a new player in January, or recalling Reiss Nelson from Hoffenheim to boost the squad's depth. (@Danielfloyd1981) November 12, 2018Pleased for Lacazette receiving a France call up, albeit as a late replacement for injured Martial. He’s been in great form this season and deserves to be rewarded. Hopefully he can show Deschamps that he deserves to be included and he comes back to Arsenal in high spirits. pic.twitter.com/dkeVOXWjX8— Darren (@DF_Arsenal) November 12, 2018In all honesty, I don’t know how on earth he didn’t make the initial squad, but congratulations to Lacazette for being called up for France, in place of the injured Martial. Since his injury he’s been sublime, averaging a goal/assist every 86 minutes. Thoroughly deserved, Alex!— Patrick Timmons (@PatrickTimmons1) November 12, 2018People been beefing me for time about Lacazette not being in the France squad and using it stupidly to claim Giroud is better.Well ....... he's back.
