Argentina and Italy go head to head today in a gigantic clash and fans all over the world were waiting to see the little magician in action. It will be his first appearance for the national side since he miraculously led them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. But, the starting eleven has caught everyone by surprise as Leo Messi has not been included in the squad by coach Jorge Sampaoli. All this meant that twitter would spend more time bashing the Argentine coach for his team selections than actually watching the game. Here's how twitter reacted:It looks like Messi will not start (maybe he will not even get involved) against Italy today. I believe is part of a plan to give him the right amount of minutes/rest.— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) March 23, 2018Aaaand it looks like Messi’s not even in the squad for tonight, as had been rumoured all day. A great shame— Sam Lee (@Sammy_Goal) March 23, 2018Messi won't start against Italy (injured)Dybala isn't part of the teamLo Celso is a possible replacementIcardi might not be going to RussiaSampaoli has declared this is Messi's team not his.Pretty much in a nutshell of what's happening with @Argentina over the last 24 hours.— Sivan John (@SivanJohn_) March 23, 2018So: it looks like Messi will NOT be playing in the Italy match.Bad for the spectacle; Good for the player.— totalBarça (@totalBarca) March 23, 2018An absolute disgrace how they’ve been parading Messi over the last few days and he doesn’t even play!— Id Mich (@Mich_Lufc) March 23, 2018I was only gonna watch that Argentina match for Messi , but ill watch the Spain one— Babyface Assassin™ (@TrapHaze) March 23, 2018Lionel Messi won't even be on the bench for Argentina against Italy due to his muscle fatigue. However, there is a chance he could play against Spain on Tuesday. https://t.co/KWi4VcDmdI— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) March 23, 2018Some very very disappointed children (and grown ups) at the Etihad following the news Messi isn’t playing. What a blow #arg #ita— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) March 23, 2018I have absolutely no problem with Messi not starting. On the contrary, I am happy because I'd love to see what the team can do without him. However, Dybala would have been perfect for this match and Sampaoli now in the hot seat. Hopefully he realizes the mistake he's made.— Roy Nemer (@RoyNemer) March 23, 2018“Messi won't play against Italy.” pic.twitter.com/SvCPRX04Hu— Barça World (@BarcaWorId) March 23, 2018
