Manchester City beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final today 4-3 on penalties in a match which ended 0-0 at the end of extra time. Just before the end of extra time, Willy Caballero was being prepared to come on instead of Kepa Arrizabalaga, and when his number went up, the Chelsea keeper refused to be subbed, which infuriated Maurizio Sarri, who started to go into the tunnel. The match itself didn't have many highlights as both defenses stood strong for the whole of the game.In the first half, Otamendi was the closest to breaking the deadlock as his header was saved by Kepa from very close range. Manchester City were dominant with the ball in the first half but didn't create much as David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger were brilliant. In the second half, it was a much more open game, and N'Golo Kante came the closest for Chelsea, while Sergio Aguero had a goal disallowed for off-side. In extra time, things got a little heated as Sarri wanted to bring Caballero on, but Kepa refused to come off which sparkled a lot of confusion on the Chelsea bench. In the end, Sarri decided against making the substitution, but he was absolutely fuming. After the dust settled, it was Kepa who was going in goal for the penalties, and in the end, Manchester City won 4-3, after David Luiz and Jorginho missed their penalties for Chelsea, while for Manchester City, everyone scored barring Leroy Sane. While Kepa felt that he could continue, Sarri had the right to take him off, with the shot-stopper having received treatment twice already. Here's how Twitter reacted to Kepa refusing to be subbed:Who did this? 😆 pic.twitter.com/M3hlsLybUO— ESPN UK (@ESPNUK) February 24, 2019UNBELIEVABLE: The look on Sarri's face when Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted 😳 pic.twitter.com/PhuWqREWpB— ESPN UK (@ESPNUK) February 24, 2019Wow. This is bonkers. Not sure I’ve ever seen a player refuse to be subbed. Extraordinary.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) February 24, 2019Feel for Kepa. Takes over as Chelsea manager and almost immediately loses his first game in charge...— Jake Humphrey (@mrjakehumphrey) February 24, 2019Kepa refuses to come off... and he does this HAHAHA pic.twitter.com/LhILVFzleY— Lewis Thompson (@LewisThomps0n) February 24, 2019Kepa has got to save EVERYTHING now!!!!— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) February 24, 2019I would resign if I was M Sarri. Kepa has not only disrespected Sarri but also Caballero!!!!!! #AbsoluteJoke of a dressing room. The skipper should have walked Kepa off as well. #CarabaoCup— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) February 24, 2019Media will have a crazy agenda against Kepa now.— Ali. (@UtdAlii) February 24, 2019That embarrassing moment with Kepa adds another layer to the Sarri situation. I don't know how you move forward after that. It doesn't seem realistic to drop your £70 million goalkeeper, but he's also shown clear disrespect to the manager.— Kristan Heneage (@KHeneage) February 24, 2019If Kepa wins it for #Chelsea, make him player-manager.— Chelsea HQ (@Chelsea_HQ) February 24, 2019If I were Sarri, I'd have serious misgivings about ever allowing Kepa to play for me again. Player power gone mental, that.— Kris Voakes (@krisvoakes) February 24, 2019People can talk all they want about what Kepa’s actions say about Sarri’s authority, or lack of it, over this Chelsea squad but what the Chelsea goalkeeper did was an absolute disgrace that demands severe punishment. An embarrassment to the term ‘professional’ #cfc— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) February 24, 2019121' SUB... or is it?!Caballero on for Kepa is the requested change - and Kepa is furious about it. The Spaniard refuses to leave the field, despite the bench's concerns over his fitness. Sarri is NOT PLEASED. The change doesn't happen. WOW.[0-0] #CarabaoCupFinal— BBC Match of the Day mag (@MOTDmag) February 24, 2019Maurizio Sarri tries to sub off Kepa, he refuses and overrules his own manager.Incredible scenes at Wembley 👀 pic.twitter.com/DFJNCilK59— talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) February 24, 2019This is amazing. Sarri is screaming at Kepa to come off for Caballero. Kepa's twice been injured and PKs are moments away in the #LeagueCupFinal. Now Kepa stays in the match and Sarri IS LEAVING THE PITCH. HE'S GOING INTO THE TUNNEL.— Nicholas Mendola (@NicholasMendola) February 24, 2019
