Marcel Brands on summer window

Everton's director of football Marcel Brands has revealed that the transfer targets for the summer window have been decided. He stated that the reason that they didn’t do anything in the winter market is due to the fact that there wasn’t really a necessity and that players find it difficult to adapt to a new team when bought in the middle of a season.

“We didn’t do anything in the winter window because there was no big need for that and I don’t like to bring players in during the winter window because there is no pre-season, the games go on and on and it is difficult for the players to adapt”.

“We didn’t do anything but prepared more for the summer.”

He then went to state that the club have now agreed upon the targets for the summer. He also revealed that he will never buy a player without the coach’s consent and that a player would also not be signed if he himself doesn’t think that the player suits the philosophy of the club.

“Now, on April 2, the players are already decided. We’ve done a lot of work on that and let’s see what is possible and what we can do but the positions and names are ready.

“I would never bring in a player that the coach is not looking for or does not want to work with.

“The opposite will also not happen. If Marco likes a player but I don’t think he would fit in with the philosophy of the club or think he is not the right choice, too old or whatever it is. We both have to agree.”

Mario Melchiot on Hazard

Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has claimed that Eden Hazard could leave Chelsea as the Blues might not be able to match the ambitions of the Belgian.

He stated Hazard might consider leaving if the Blues don’t have the ability to win trophies or improve him as a player. As a result, Chelsea should sit down and talk to him.

“Some of the questions that Eden Hazard will ask himself are: ‘Can I win trophies here? Can I become a better player than I am already? And in this team can I move forward as quick as I want to move forward?’

“And if all those answers are no, what do you think he’s going do? I don’t see him staying at Chelsea.

“They have to sit down with him as quick as they can because if not the kid has all the power in his hands, he’s going to run the contract out and it doesn’t matter what they do.”

Manchester United v Watford FC - Premier League

Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign a director of football for next season. According to Guillem Balague, however, the Red Devils are not in any rush due to the presence of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian is not hurrying the process to bring in a director of football but should United bring one in, he shouldn’t be given a lot of power.

“There was a process at Manchester United that included the different candidates to get the right manager. They accelerated that by getting Solskjaer, and I believe Solskjaer is not in a rush to get a director of football or is suggesting that if he comes he won’t be somebody with a lot of authority,” Balague said on his official YouTube account.

“So, that has been put to the back burner, and it has to do with the fact that right now Solskjaer has gained a good amount of authority.”

De Gea and Pepe

Arsenal FC v Manchester United - Premier League

David De Gea’s contractual situation with Manchester United hasn’t been resolved yet as the former Atletico Madrid shot stopper is yet to sign a new deal with the Red Devils.

And now, a report from French outlet Le Parisien claims that while David De Gea is positive about staying at United, there is an outside chance for him to leave. Apparently, should talks break down with the Old Trafford outfit, the Spaniard could join PSG next season.

Meanwhile, speaking of Ligue 1, one of the best players there, Nicolas Pepe, has attracted the attention of a lot of Premier League clubs, which include Arsenal and Manchester United.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton are following Thiago Mendes while Cardiff City want Celik.

It seems as though Lille players are in demand and the club might just be torn apart in the summer.
