Watch: Shane Watson gives autograph to his son during BBL match

The eighth edition of Big Bash League (BBL) is going on in full swing at multiple venues of Australia. The popular Twenty20 league started in December last year and will end in February.

The mega event has already witnessed some stunning matches this season with a lot of action remaining in the tournament.

On Sunday, defending champions Adelaide Strikers were playing against Sydney Thunder at Sydney Showground Stadium. During the match, the fans got to witness an unexpected moment.

Apart from some scintillating cricket action, the spectators enjoyed a heartwarming scene as well. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was seen giving autographs to his own son when the young kid came out to the ground to meet his father.

In the ongoing BBL season, the sight of selected young cricket fans running on to the middle to meet their favourite cricketers has become quite constant during the interval break between the two innings.

During Sydney Thunder's encounter against Adelaide Strikers, skipper Watson was greeted by his son Will just as he had come out to field.

Watson signed autographs on his son's cap as well as jersey. The father-son duo then proceeded to hug each other even as the cameras captured the emotional moment.

The video was posted by the official Twitter handle of BBL, following which the footage became an internet sensation.

Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal, Watson's former teammate and legendary Australian gloveman Adam Gilchrist were among those who responded to the tweet.

On his Twitter account, Watson posted a beautiful picture of him with his child and wrote, "My best mate.... memories that will last a lifetime."

Chennai Super Kings, Watson's IPL franchise, came up with a beautiful ode to the father-son moment. They used an emotional Tamil movie song to capture the bond between the duo.

Despite having retired from international cricket a couple of years ago, Watson has been going strong in various T20 leagues around the world.

In the game against Adelaide, Watson led from the front and scored a splendid 40-ball 68 to set up Sydney Thunder's comprehensive victory.
