Paige Bueckers is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Wings. In the 2025 WNBA draft, she was the number one pick. Before entering the WNBA, Bueckers was a part of the UConn Huskies women's basketball team in the Big East Conference. She made her debut for the UConn Huskies in 2020.

On the international stage, she has secured three gold medals with the United States at the youth international level, including a standout performance at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup, where she was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Bueckers earned a Youth Olympic gold medal in 3x3 basketball and has represented the senior national 3x3 team with distinction.

Paige Bueckers won a national championship in 2025. This was the first championship she won for the UConn Huskies before she was drafted in the WNBA by the Dallas Wings. Before she won the championship, she made significant contributions and led her team to the finals several times throughout her college basketball career. Notably, she led UConn to the Final Four of the 2021 NCAA tournament and set program records for assists by a freshman as well as single-game assists. Despite missing most of her sophomore season due to a left knee injury, she led her team to the national championship game.

On April 1st, 2024, Paige Bueckers led UConn to the Final Four with a win over USC. In the regional final, Bueckers played a pivotal role in the Huskies' victory, scoring 28 points in an 80-73 win over Southern California.

Paige Bueckers's college career

Paige Bueckers joined the UConn Huskies in 2020. Her collegiate debut was on December 12, 2020. She quickly made her mark by winning all the National Player of the Year awards she was eligible for, including the AP Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, USBWA Women's National Player of the Year, and the John R. Wooden Award. This achievement made her the first freshman in history to receive all these accolades.

During her freshman year, Bueckers also excelled academically, earning a spot on the university's dean's list. In her second season debut on November 14, 2021, Bueckers recorded a career-high 34 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a victory against Arkansas.

She faced challenges, such as an ACL tear in her left knee during a pick-up game in August 2022, and missed the entire 2022–23 season. She made a return on November 8, 2023, and continued to impress throughout the regular season. She was named the Big East Player of the Year and was unanimously selected for the first-team all-conference. She also holds records at UConn, including setting the single-game assist record with 14 assists and being the freshman season record holder for assists with a total of 168.
