The Warriors trailed by 20 in the first half and entered the break with a 17-point deficit. However, the defending champions showed their mettle in the second half, outscoring the Pelicans 74-46 in the final 24 minutes.

Curry led the team's fightback, scoring 22 of his 39 points in the second half. He shot 56.0%, including 8-of-15 from deep, while also tallying eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals. The Warriors committed 14 first-half turnovers, contributing to them falling behind big early.

Golden State only committed four turnovers in the second half, while it also managed to get stops, helping it initiate its offense with pace and get better looks down the stretch.

Steph Curry and Co. were facing the possibility of dropping further into the conference standings down to eighth. The Pelicans would've improved to 39-37 with a win, while the Warriors would've been 39-38. However, Curry ensured that didn't happen, helping the team reclaim the sixth spot, improving to 40-37.

Steph Curry and Co. escaped a big-time loss at home against the New Orleans Pelicans, which could've had huge ramifications in their seeding at the end of the regular season. The Warriors don't hold the tie-breaker over the Timberwolves (better conference record) and the Lakers (1-3).

However, the win not only puts the Warriors into a top-six place but also in contention to earn homecourt seeding. They are only one game behind the fourth-placed Phoenix Suns (40-35). The schedule, however, doesn't favor the Warriors much.

Steph Curry and Co. will be on the road in three of their final five games. Two of those games will be against the top three teams, the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings. They will also host the unpredictable OKC Thunder at home, who are aiming to earn a higher seeding in the play-in bracket and make the playoffs for the first time in three years.
