Memphis Grizzlies vs OKC Thunder Player Stats and Box Score (Apr. 22) | Game 2, 2025 NBA Playoffs

The OKC Thunder snuffed the life out of the Memphis Grizzlies in the fourth quarter to win Game 2, 118-99, on Tuesday. Oklahoma led 90-79 after Memphis crawled back into the game in the third period. A 14-2 run in the first six minutes of the final frame sent the Grizzlies reeling to a 0-2 deficit in the series.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had another inefficient night, finishing the game with 27 points on 10-for-29 shooting. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren combined for 44 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and five blocks.

Like SGA, Ja Morant also struggled with his shot. He had 23 points, needing 25 shots to reach his total. Desmond Bane contributed 19 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the loss.

The Grizzlies will try to snap out of their slump Thursday in front of their home fans.

Memphis Grizzlies vs OKC Thunder: Game Summary

The Memphis Grizzlies took on the OKC Thunder on Tuesday in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series. After suffering an embarrassing 131-80 loss on Sunday, the Grizzlies hoped to put on a more competitive showing.

The Grizzlies started worse in Game 2 than in the series opener. They again had trouble solving the Thunder's suffocating defense, trailing 32-17 after 12 minutes. Memphis also had no answer to Oklahoma's efficiency in attacking the paint.

Ja Morant and Co. finally showed better fight in the second quarter. Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Scotty Pippen Jr. stepped up to give Morant a hand. Still, they lost the period 38-35, facing a 70-52 deficit at halftime.

The Grizzlies proved they could go toe-to-toe defensively with the Thunder in the third quarter. Memphis’ defense behind the arc, which forced Oklahoma to shoot 0-for-8, was decisive. They limited OKC to 20 points in the period and entered the fourth quarter trailing 90-79.

A crippling 14-2 run by the Thunder in the opening six minutes of the fourth quarter took the fight out of the Grizzlies. Against the NBA's best defense, the visiting team could not overcome the deficit and lost 118-99.
