Alperen Sengun kicked off Turkey's EuroBasket campaign against Latvia on Wednesday with a dominant 93-73 win in the second Group A game of the tournament. Replete with NBA-level talent, the "12 Dev Adam" took an early lead against Latvia, outscoring it 24-21 in the first quarter.Sengun combined well with former NBA point guards Shane Larkin and Cedi Osman to find his rhythm in the post, scoring three of his five field goal attempts by halftime.He also filled up the box score in other ways, showing off his passing range, dishing four dimes and four rebounds before the big interval. He also gave up three turnovers, which allowed Latvia to stay close. Latvia trailed Turkey at halftime by eight (39-47).The tide never turned for Latvia in the second half as Turkey's physicality and superior talent won out. With star man Kristaps Porzingis taking punishment on both ends. Although Richards Lomazs added 16 points and Arturs Zagars scored 11, they were unable to prevent a blowout. Sengun, one the NBA's rising stars showed his value displaying signature touch and passing. He was ably deputized by Kenan Sipahi who scored 19 points in 27 minutes on perfect shooting from the floor and the free throw line. Sengun wasn't nearly as perfect, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists on 63% shooting. Acting as the offensive fulcrum for Ergin Ataman's side, he won't need to be the main scorer. If Turkey's first act in the tournament was anything to go by, fans should be very excited.
