Yankees star Cody Bellinger is experiencing a career renaissance with New York. After two inconsistent seasons with the Cubs, he was dealt to the Bombers ahead of the 2025 season. Deployed across the outfield with occasional reps at first base, the former NL MVP has done an admirable job filling the void left by Juan Soto.

However, the biggest question heading into the season is the outfielder’s next destination, as his contract expires at the end of 2025. In an appearance on the MLB Network, renowned insider Jon Heyman shed light on Bellinger’s probable next career move.

"Bellinger has had a terrific year in the Bronx," Heyman said. He's been really good in the fourth spot. He's got an .837 OPS. I do think he would stay in a big market whether it's the Yankees or the Mets, he would be a fit too...He told me the other day that he wants to play for a winner, that's his only prerequisite," he added. At the time of writing, the two-time All-Star has compiled a .275/.322/.497 slash line with 27 home runs and 87 RBIs. He has also generated 4.4 fWAR, a significant improvement from his 2.2 fWAR in 2024,

The outfielder also ranks among the top hitters in plate discipline, sitting in the 92nd percentile for strikeout rate (meaning he rarely strikes out) and the 86th percentile for whiff rate.

Another major factor is his defensive value, which elevates him to the 91st percentile among all position players.
