Carlos Enrique Mendoza is the second Venezuelan manager in Major League Baseball (MLB) history, following Ozzie Guillen. As of October 2024, he is in his first year as the manager of the New York Mets. Having a baseball background, Mendoza signed a contract as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants and played for 13 seasons in the minor leagues before retiring. However, he switched to managing and coaching minor league teams before joining the New York Yankees as a roving defensive instructor at the end of the 2012 season.
