In the main story, Roger expressed his dissatisfaction at Shakky having quit the Kuja Pirates, even noticing that she seemed unwell the last time they confronted each other. While Shakky had left a letter in hopes that Rayleigh would meet her, he wished to continue living freely. This pushed the future Pirate King himself to visit her bar in Hachinosu.

40 years before the present timeline, the Holy Knight Garling had reported to the Gorosei about the various resources present in God Valley, as well as a stunning discovery he had made. He believed Imu would be pleased with his findings and suggested that the next Native Hunting Tournament be held there.
