Samoa Joe (birth name: Nuufolau Joel "Joe" Seanoa), the current All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Champion is an American pro-level wrestler and actor. He started his career in 1999 and joined Ring of Honor (ROH) three years later, after its inauguration. Joe won the ROH Pure Title (1 time), ROH World Title (1 time), and ROH World Television Title (1 time). He is the Triple Crown Champion in that promotion and was inducted into the ROH Hall of Fame in 2022. Joe additionally created the record by holding the ROH World Title for 21 months (2003-2004).
He joined TNA in 2005 and was active there for almost 10 years. During his TNA career, Joe achieved numerous titles and accomplishments such as the TNA Television Title (1 time), the TNA World Heavyweight Title (1 time), the TNA World Tag Team Title (2 times), the TNA X Division Title (5 times). Joe is also the Grand Slam Champion and Triple Crown Champion in TNA. Joe left TNA in 2015 and joined WWE to perform on the NXT brand. During his initial days in NXT, he won the NXT Title (2 times) and was soon promoted to the main roster in 2017. Joe went on to win the WWE US Title (2 times) and headlined numerous pay-per-view events as a main roster performer.
He was released from WWE in 2021 and was rehired in the same year. During his second term with the WWE, Joe won the NXT Title one more time and was finally released in 2022. Samoa Joe signed with AEW in 2022 and won the AEW TNT Title (2 times), and AEW World Title (1 time) as of February 2024. After winning the AEW World Title, Joe became the only grappler to have won the ROH, TNA, and AEW World Titles. Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) named him Most Popular Wrestler of the Year in 2006 and he was ranked at the 4th spot in the PWI 500 list for two years (2006 and 2008).
