Danhausen possible AEW dream opponents

Is AEW about to become "very nice, very evil" in the near future?

This could certainly happen if the wrestler known as Danhausen signs with All Elite Wrestling.

The popular professional wrestler is set to become a free agent in the near future. And certainly has a plethora of promotions interested in signing the pro wrestling super villain to an exclusive contract.

Danhausen is one of the most unique characters in the world of sports entertainment. A comedic caricature of Super Villain, Danhausen has seen his work recognized by late night talk-show legend Conan O'Brien and WWE icon The Rock.

He's also developed a cult following through his YouTube channel and social media accounts, which have thousands of followers. If Danhausen does indeed join AEW, there would be plenty of opponents to square off against inside of an All Elite Wrestling ring.

Let's take a closer look at five AEW dream opponents for Danhausen.

#5 Current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega

AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is on top of the world right now in All Elite Wrestling.

The Cleaner is closing in on one full year as the AEW World Champion after defeating Jon Moxley for the title at the Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite in December 2020.

Since then, Omega has defeated the likes of Christian Cage, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, PAC and Rey Fenix to successfully retain his championship.

Some AEW fans might think Danhausen is too much of a comedic character to be taken seriously as a credible threat to Omega's AEW World Championship.

However, it's been proven with the likes of Orange Cassidy that comedic characters in AEW can become serious when the time is right and the stakes are high.

Who's to say that Danhausen wouldn't provide a unique foil to The Cleaner, who can often be very comedic during his matches and promos?

#4 AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson

AEW star Bryan Danielson has made quite the impression since arriving at All Elite Wrestling.

Danielson made his highly anticipated debut at the conclusion of the All Out pay-per-view in September.

Since then, The American Dragon has competed in numerous incredible matches against the likes of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, Eddie Kingston, Dustin Rhodes and Minoru Suzuki.

However, the former WWE Superstar does also have a comedic side. Danielson regularly presented his character, known as "The Dazzler" on WWE's YouTube channel in 2012 and 2013.

Perhaps The Dazzler could make his way onto AEW television and square off against the very nice and very evil Danhausen. It's often overlooked how proficient Danhausen is inside of the squared circle.

The match between Danielson and Danhausen would certainly be comedic but also technically sound in the ring.

#3 AEW wrestler CM Punk

Former WWE Champion CM Punk's debut in All Elite Wresting at AEW Rampage: The First Dance is one of the greatest moments in recent professional wrestling history.

The Second City Savior has since returned to the ring to regularly compete for the first time in seven years.

Punk is currently undefeated in AEW, earning victories over members of the All Elite Wrestling roster such as Darby Allin, Powerhouse Hobbs, Daniel Garcia, Matt Sydal and Bobby Fish.

The former WWE champion has openly spoken of his desire to work with the younger generation of professional wrestlers, particularly names that he has never squared off against before in his career.

Danhausen certainly falls into this category. Punk would without a doubt take great pleasure in elevating Danhausen to the next level and establishing the professional wrestling super villain to the next level in All Elite Wrestling.

#2 Current AEW star Matt Hardy

AEW star Matt Hardy has a legendary professional wrestling career that has included numerous incarnations and versions of Matt Hardy's character.

The former IMPACT World Champion is currently portraying his "Big Money Matt" character in All Elite Wrestling. This includes Hardy serving as a manager for the likes of Private Party and The Blade & The Butcher as part of the Hardy Family Office.

However, Matt Hardy is also well known for his "Broken" Matt Hardy character and creating the Broken Universe in IMPACT Wrestling.

Broken Matt was a highly entertaining, over-the-top, and sometimes comedic, character that took the wrestling industry by storm in 2016 and 2017. The gimmick was also responsible for rejuvinating Matt Hardy's career at the time, too.

Whilst Hardy initially used "Broken" Matt in AEW, the character has quitely retired in favor of the "Big Money Matt" gimmick.

But should Danhausen sign with AEW? The cinematic and comedic possibilities between the professional wrestling version of Conan O'Brien and "Broken" Matt Hardy could be endless.

#1 AEW wrestler Orange Cassidy

Orange Cassidy has quickly become one of the most popular characters in all of All Eite Wrestling since the company debuted in 2019.

Initially, several critics and fans were skeptical of how far Cassidy's character could go on mainstream professional wrestling television. OC was popular on the independent scene, but many wondered if he could transition to the mainstream.

The King of Sloth Style's gimmick revolves around Cassidy being laid back, lazy and often appearing to not care too much, if at all.

However, over time it has been shown that when Orange Cassidy cares, he can show passion, grit and desire.

Despite this, The Freshly Squeezed One remains a largely comedic character who is incredibly popular with the AEW fanbase.

Cassidy squaring off against another humorous figure such as Danhausen would be highly entertaining and compelling television in AEW.

Orange portraying the comedic hero in contrast to Danhausen's comedic villain would no doubt provide AEW fans with segments, matches and moments that would be talked about for a long, long time.
